Founder perspective · October 2026

Why I want to help now.

After four years building XI Squared, I've made the decision to commit fully. Here's what I'm seeing, and why this is the moment to step up.

Four years ago, I founded XI SQUARED because I saw something specific that the big firms couldn't fix. Now the moment has changed, and I want to do this properly.

Ukrainian businesses — the founders building real companies in technology, in natural resources, in energy, in security; the families and individuals creating wealth across borders — were navigating financial complexity with advisors who were either too big to care or too small to know.

The big firms had the expertise but treated Ukrainian businesses as a peripheral market. Junior contacts. Standard playbooks. Templates designed for someone else. The smaller firms cared, but they didn't have the UK regulatory depth that cross-border work actually requires. They couldn't follow the client into London with real fluency.

So I built something in between. A boutique. Senior-led. Bilingual in English and Ukrainian. With genuine UK regulatory expertise. With the time to listen carefully and the depth to advise well.

Over four years, XI2 has worked with sophisticated clients across Ukrainian technology, SaaS and AI companies scaling into the UK; natural resource exporters managing complex trade and treasury; energy operators navigating project finance and reconstruction-era opportunity; security businesses managing regulated cross-border operations; and private and commercial real estate investors structuring international portfolios. Each one different. Each one navigating the same fundamental challenge: how do you scale a Ukrainian business into the UK — or how do you invest internationally into Ukraine — without losing your way in financial complexity that wasn't built for you?

That's the work. That's been the work for four years.

What's changed.

What's changed is the moment.

When I started XI2, "cross-border" still meant something measured. Ukrainian businesses scaling international were ambitious; international businesses entering Ukraine were curious. Now both flows have intensified to a degree I didn't imagine.

Ukrainian tech and AI companies are scaling globally at a pace that demands sophisticated structuring from day one. Natural resource and energy businesses are operating across a sanctions and trade environment more complex than at any point in my career. Security companies are navigating regulated industries across multiple jurisdictions simultaneously. Real estate investors are looking at Ukrainian opportunity and European exit structures in the same week.

And on the other side: international capital is arriving in Ukraine with seriousness. Investors who never looked at Ukrainian markets are now investing. Lenders who couldn't deploy capital before are deploying. Reconstruction has created a multi-decade opportunity, and Europe has accelerated Ukrainian integration in ways that genuinely change the financial architecture of doing business.

Every client conversation I have starts with the same question, posed differently: "What does this look like done right?"

Not "what's the standard playbook" — because the standard playbooks don't fit. Not "what does my Big Four contact say" — because the Big Four contact is changing every six months. What does this look like done right?

That question is what I want to spend my full attention answering.

The decision.

So after four years of building XI2 alongside other commitments, I've made the decision to commit fully. From this point forward, XI SQUARED has my full focus and my full hours.

This isn't a choice I made lightly. Going full-time means walking away from other work I valued. But the moment is right. The clients need genuine attention. The work is real. The cross-border financial bridge between Ukraine and the UK is one of the most consequential places to be working right now — and I want to do it properly.

What XI2 is becoming.

This commitment lets XI2 do something we couldn't before. We're formalizing our positioning as the boutique financial advisory specialist at the financial bridge between Ukraine and the UK. We're focusing our work around four industry verticals: software, SaaS, AI and data businesses scaling globally; natural resources businesses managing export markets; energy operators across traditional and renewable sectors; and security companies navigating regulated international operations.

We're adding strategic advisory capability — business strategy, go-to-market, growth, M&A, partnerships — alongside our financial advisory practice. The Strategy Partner running that practice brings senior US and EMEA experience across technology, data and SaaS, with multi-tour private equity backing. The Strategic Advisory practice runs alongside our financial work, available to clients who need both.

And we're doubling down on one fundamental commitment that's been the foundation of the firm from day one.

Every XI2 engagement is led directly by a principal. Always a principal. Never a ticket.

Never a ticketing system, never a junior contact who changes every six months, never the experience of being passed from one face to another while your business sits in the queue. That's the boutique commitment no firm at scale can credibly make. We can. We do.

Why now.

I wrote earlier that the moment is right. Let me be more specific.

Ukrainian businesses scaling internationally need real expertise more than they ever have. The companies I'm seeing have the ambition and the substance — but they need partners who understand both worlds, who can navigate Ukrainian regulatory specifics and UK compliance with equal fluency, who can move at the pace these businesses move at, and who actually pick up the phone.

International investors looking at Ukraine need partners who can give them honest, sophisticated counsel — not pitchbook optimism and not headline pessimism. They need someone who works on the ground in both worlds and who can tell them straight what's real and what's marketing.

These needs aren't going to slow down. Ukraine is being rebuilt. Europe is integrating Ukrainian markets. Capital is flowing in both directions. The businesses I want to help — the founders, the operators, the investors building real things across these markets — need genuine partners now.

That's why I want to help now.

What this means for our existing clients.

If you're an existing XI2 client, this commitment is good news. You'll see more of me, not less. The service you've valued for years continues — with deeper capacity, faster turnaround, and additional capabilities you can now access if useful. The first calls I made when finalizing this decision weren't to journalists. They were to my clients. I wanted you to know first.

What this means for new clients.

If you're considering working with XI2 — whether you're a Ukrainian founder scaling globally, an international investor or operator engaging Ukraine, or someone navigating both directions — what I offer is what's described above: direct access to me, the time to actually understand your business, and the depth to advise well across the financial and increasingly the strategic dimensions of cross-border work.

If that's what you need, I'd welcome the conversation.
